 RBI has asked all public and private banks to ban the use of 2000 notes. Whatever notes of 2000 will come to the banks, they will neither be able to fill them in the ATM nor will they give them to any customer.


 Where will the bank keep these 2000 notes?


 2000 currency notes deposited in the banks on behalf of the general public will be collected in the currency chests of the banks. From here these notes will be collected and sent to RBI offices.


 What to do if you have a Rs 2,000 note?


 If you have 2000 note then there is no need to worry. You can exchange these notes by visiting any bank branch. This facility will be available in banks till September 30, 2023. This facility will also be available in 19 regional offices of RBI.


 How many 2000 notes can be exchanged at a time?


 You can exchange all the two thousand rupee notes that you have. But only notes up to Rs 20,000 can be exchanged at a time.


 When can the notes be exchanged?


 From May 23, 2023, you can deposit Rs 2,000 notes in the bank or exchange them for other notes.


 Do I have to get the notes exchanged from my bank branch itself?


 No, even if you do not have a bank account, you can get the Rs 2,000 note exchanged by visiting a bank branch.

 Yes, an account holder can exchange two 2000 bank notes in a day with the help of business correspondents.


 Can notes be exchanged if there is no bank account?


 Yes, even if you do not have an account with any bank, you can exchange currency of Rs 2,000 up to Rs 20,000.


 Will there be special arrangements for exchange of notes for senior citizens, differently abled persons etc.?


 RBI has directed banks to provide special facilities to senior citizens, persons with disabilities etc. to exchange Rs 2000 notes.


 Is there any form to be filled to exchange 2000 note?


 India's largest public sector bank State Bank of India (SBI) has also issued a circular regarding note exchange. According to the bank's guideline, you can exchange 20,000 rupees i.e. 10 notes of 2000 in a day. People will not have to fill any form to exchange notes. People do not even need to show any ID proof. Bank will not charge any fee for note exchange.
