New Delhi: In order to enhance India's military capabilities, the Defense Acquisition Council has approved the purchase of Rs 84,560 crore. These proposals include the purchase of new anti-tank mines, torpedoes, multi-mission maritime aircraft and air defense tactical control radar. The final approval for this purchase is expected to be received from the Cabinet Committee soon. This is sure to increase the strength of the Indian Armed Forces and the Indian Coast Guard.

Keeping in mind the goal of 'self-reliant' India of the Central Government, in most of the proposals approved, emphasis has been laid on purchasing all the equipment from Indian manufacturers.







To enhance the capability of mechanized forces, the Council also approved the proposal to procure Canister Launched Anti-Armour Loiter Munition System. Through this, even those targets in the battlefield can be targeted which are not in sight.





Apart from this, the Indian air defense system will be strengthened through new tactical control radars, because these radars can also detect slow, small and low flying targets.
To strengthen the surveillance and intervention capabilities of the Indian Army and Indian Coast Guard, medium range Maritime Reconnaissance and Multi-Mission Maritime Aircraft are being purchased.

It is also expected to purchase equipment to identify and engage underwater targets, Active Towed Array Sonar and heavy torpedoes.
