Deeply satisfied that PM Modi inaugurated new Parliament building : President Murmu President Droupadi.

President Droupadi Murmu said she was "deeply satisfied" when Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the new edifice on May 28 even though she was unable to attend. Due to PM Modi's choice to open the new Parliament House rather than the President, several opposition parties had decided to skip the ceremony.

By India Today News Desk : President Droupadi Murmu hailed the inauguration of the new Parliament building , saying she was " deeply satisfied " that the structure was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi , who is " the symbol of Parliament's trust " .

India's new Parliament House is a symbol of ambitions, according to the Prime Minister. Representatives of 22 Opposition parties boycott the event, which PM Modi speaks of forging new avenues to help India realise its aspirations of becoming a developed nation. In her message, the President expresses happiness that the PM is inaugurating the building.

To coincide with the 100th anniversary of the country's Independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's new Parliament building on Sunday. He described it as a symbol of the "aspirations" of 140 crore citizens and a tool that will propel India in the next 25 years towards its goal of becoming a "developed country."

It is more than just a structure. It reflects the hopes and aspirations of 140 billion Indians. This is the temple of our democracy sending the world a message of India's resolve, he remarked. Every nation has experienced a period in its history when consciousness was reawakened, according to Mr. Modi; the most recent one occurred 25 years before India attained independence. "India will celebrate its 100th anniversary of independence in 25 years. In these 25 years, we must work together to transform India into a developed country. India will become a developed India in the next 25 years thanks to the new legislation that will be passed in this new edifice of Parliament, he claimed.

An interfaith prayer service was also conducted to commemorate the event. For their crucial contribution to the building's development, the prime minister presented some of the workers with shawls and gifts. At midday, Mr Modi, Mr Birla, and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh entered the new structure to start the second half of the ceremony. The Lok Sabha audience gave him a standing ovation as they chanted "Modi, Modi," "Bharat Mata ki Jai," and "Harr, Harr Mahadev" across the chamber. There was also the sporadic " Shivaji Maharaj ki jai ". The sloganeering continued until the three arrived at the dais, at which point the ceremonial ceremony started.

In order to maintain continuity, the new triangular Parliament House, which was created to accommodate the three-sided block of ground on which it stands, confronts the original circular building. However, their interiors are a study in contrast. The 16-foot-tall bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi by Noida-based artist Ram Sutar stands in the middle, acting as a silent arbiter between the past and the present.

The new four-story construction features lights inlaid into the ceilings of gold while the old building had timber panelling and lofty ceilings. The Lok Sabha's carpet and ceiling are both covered in peacock feather themes, while the Rajya Sabha's is covered in lotus motifs. The custom of decorating the top house with red furniture, carpeting, and wall coverings and the lower house with green keeps going strong. There is no longer a central hall that was formerly a few times a year utilised for joint Parliamentary sessions and afterwards used as a lounge for members to congregate and settle disputes over political disagreements. An open-to-the-sky courtyard and three cafes as neutral ground have taken its place.

After harsh criticism from his friend-turned-enemy Edwin Lutyens, the architect widely regarded as Delhi's designer, the New Delhi Town Planning Committee rejected his proposal. Baker eventually had to follow what Lutyens described as a wheel-like construction with an open veranda that was 800 metres long and supported by 144 columns. Members of Parliament would eventually pause here to exchange rumours or speed through to dodge media and favor-seekers.

increased capacity

The Rajya Sabha will hold 384 seats, while the Lok Sabha may accommodate 888 members today and up to 1,272 during combined sessions of Parliament. The size of both chambers has increased by about three times compared to the old Parliament House. The first level was constructed in the 1960s because the former lower house chamber's capacity of 148 members was found to be severely insufficient at its commencement. Many chairs were positioned behind the 12 pillars that support the building in order to enhance floor space at the expense of convenience and beauty. The upper house, which could previously only hold 86 members, also underwent modifications to boost its capacity to 250.
