PSG's 1-1 draw at Strasbourg on Saturday ( May 27 ) secured the trophy with a round to spare and took the Paris club past Saint - Étienne's 10 titles

Paris Saint-Germain's season is coming to a conclusion after winning a record 11th French championship, but it's been one of the most contentious and tense campaigns in a long time, with supporters turning against the players, notably football legend Lionel Messi, and the club president.

 With a round to spare, PSG's 1-1 draw at Strasbourg on May 27 gave them the trophy and moved them above Saint-Étienne's 10 championships. However, it's possible that this season will be best remembered for its several low points. PSG's season hasn't been the finest, the captain Marquinhos recently said. 

After more well-known coaches were unable to win the much-desired first Champions League championship, Christophe Galtier was brought in to lead a new for the club. 

After home setbacks, including consecutive defeats to Rennes and Lyon without scoring a goal, players were booed off the pitch. Even Lorient, a lowly team who placed 10th, triumphed 3-1 in Paris. Both at home and on the road, Rennes defeated PSG, and during a 3-1 loss in Monaco, players Marquinhos and Neymar quarrelled with sporting director Luis Campos. 

Campos was furious with the team's dismal performance when it fell down 3-0 at the break, one of the worst showings by PSG since Qatari owners QSI took over 12 years ago. Marquinhos declared, "There's nothing to hide. We have occasionally laxed during games. That effectively captures the season.

Despite Kevin Gameiro's equaliser cancelling out Messi's opening goal on Saturday, PSG now has an unassailable four-point lead over Lens with one game left in the regular season.
